Facilities
Our facilities are located in 243 Reber Building.
The ASPIRe lab has two main facilities. Part of the lab is for general acoustics and signal processing activities. The lab also holds the immersive/spatial audio facilities including a 54 channel WFS system and a 58 ambisonic/high density loudspeaker array. Please see the sections below for more details on these systems.
Wavefield Synthesis
Acoustics, Signal Processing, and Immersive Reality (ASPIRe) Lab studies immersive audio. Â To that end, we have developed high-quality, flexible, and highly accurate immersive audio systems. Â This includes 54 channel WFS system driven by Dante audio over ethernet protocol. Â We use Atterotech 32-channel Dante analog endpoints to deliver high quality, full bandwidth audio to 54 individually addressable loudspeakers.
We use a GRAS HATS (Head and Torso Simulator) for all of our binaural measurements.
We have several sound field microphones. Some are built by us, others are commercially available. One workhorse sound field mic is the Core Sound TetraMic.
